Week One of Home Learning: (3/23-3/27)
For all of the following directions, download the A_Sound_of_Thunder.PDF below. This story is called "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury. Each day, you will be asked to complete different sets of pages on the pdf. Use the pdf and the pdf ONLY to complete this.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].
In order to turn in this work for me to look at, type your answers on a google doc and share it to [email protected] by Saturday, March 28.
Day 1:
Complete the pre-reading activities (pages 1-3). Be sure to look at the directions on each sheet in order to complete these correctly. For the pre-reading questions (page 1), there are no incorrect answers! Use your imagination. For the vocabulary (pages 2-3), you will need to use context clues in order to determine which definition matches the word. Look at the sentence provided for those context clues. Then, create your own sentence in order to show me that you've learned the meaning of that word.
Day 2-3:
Read the story (pages 4-12) and answer the highlighted questions along the way. Take your time and annotate as needed! There is an annotation key below the pdf for this week's work. It would probably be best to pause at the bottom of page 7 on Tuesday and read the rest the following day.
Day 4:
Complete the plot chain (page 13) and the Butterfly Effect worksheet (page 14) . For the plot chain, choose the MOST IMPORTANT events. Don't forget to do the 2 questions at the bottom of the page! For the Butterfly Effect worksheet, you can do any of the events they give you or one you make up! This is an exercise in cause and effect relationships, but there are no definite right or wrong ways to do this as long as your answers make sense.
Day 5:
Complete the reading questions on page 15-17! These are TEXT-DEPENDENT questions, so do not forget to go back and look in the text for answers. For many questions, you will need to cite text evidence for your answers!

-"Popular Mechanics": A normal night goes terribly awry when a game of tug of war involves more than meets the eye.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].
